Leaving a Legacy

Charitable gift annuity-is a wonderful way to make a meaningful charitable gift while helping to meet the long-term financial needs of a loved one.  With a gift annuity, you make a charitable gift of cash or other property.  Then, if you desire, you can receive fixed payments for life.  The frequency and rate of the payments are determined at the time the gift annuity is funded.  The payments will continue regardless of how long you and/or other recipients live.

charitable remainder trusts- are irrevocable trusts that feature income based on the value of the property given to the charity.  The annuity trust pays a fixed income based on the value of the assets at the time the trust is created.  Once the trust is created, capital gains tax can be avoided or postponed, and an income tax deduction is available for a portion of the value of the property.  Income from the charitable remainder trust may be taxed favorably under lower capital gains tax rates.  There can also be estate tax benefits.

bequests- are planned gifts such as, but not limited to, stocks/bonds, cash, personal property or life insurance naming, that allow you to legally designate a planned gift to your interested benefactor, such as the NWW Committee.  Bequests have some income and tax advantages, as well as assurance that your assets provide a continued legacy and allow the ability to provide a lasting memorial for a family member or a friend.  Bequests provide a solid financial strength and generous support for the NWW community.

If any of these interest you or if you would like more information about leaving a legacy to NWW please contact Nancy Slamin, Executive Director at 617-964-6860.  Thank you.
