NWW'S licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) has extensive experience in the field and assists individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families in finding resources and planning for the future. The social worker assesses the level of support each individual will need and develops a plan for a residential setting that will enable the person to develop as many independent living skills as possible and to participate fully in the community.
In addition, each academic year one or more graduate student interns in social work are part of the social work team. They do individual and group work under the guidance of the LICSW.
NWW's social work services receive support from a Community Development Block Grant from the City of Newton, NWW's Annual Autumn Auction and Annual Appeal, and a grant from the Rebecca Pomroy Foundation.
