NWW’s Volunteer
Coordinator, Christina Jameson, would like to speak with you if you are interested in
becoming an NWW volunteer. The need for volunteers never really ends and if you are
interested in learning more, contact Christina Jameson at 617-964-6860, extension 24.
Volunteering your time with NWW is a win-win situation.
Since 1979, NWW has provided opportunities for interested people
seeking to become a volunteer. Situations ranging from matching a
volunteer in a one-to-one long-term friendship to "corporate day
of service" projects are highly rewarding for all involved.
Funding for these volunteer
programs comes from the City of Newton Community Block Grant
Program. In 1998, NWW was awarded a grant from the Robert Wood
Johnson Foundation's Faith in Action program to develop relationships
with communities of faith. Since that time NWW has developed
relationships with various religious institutions who have supported
the agency in numerous ways.
During 2005, over 2,900
hours of volunteer services were provided. Our dedicated volunteers provide companionship, friendship and
good times. Others are involved in work projects related to NWW as a
whole, like joining a painting party or volunteering for fundraising
efforts like the Autumn Auction.
In return, the volunteer experience enriches lives and helps
to build strong friendships and relationships that can last a
lifetime.
