Volunteers are important members of the NWW team. Volunteer groups from youth groups, colleges and communities of faith help out at the Wednesday Night Drop-In program, where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities gather to socialize on alternate Wednesday evenings. Best Buddies International volunteers from local colleges pair up with individuals with disabilities to share friendship and recreational activities. Through NWW's Community Access Program, adults from the Boston area are matched as volunteer companions to share hobbies, holidays and other leisure activities. Children can participate along with their parents. Ecumenical Fellowship volunteers share in meaningful celebrations with NWW individuals who choose to participate. Volunteers from businesses and non-profit organizations occasionally assist the agency with landscaping, gardening and similar projects.
